Mirza was able to withstand the pandemic that disrupted tennis tours’ schedules. She worked hard off-court to get in shape for competitive tennis. She not granted a visa for the United Kingdom because of COVID-19 restrictions.

Mirza’s caretaker and son received assistance from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, which allowed them to obtain the visas.

She plans to play in a few grass-court tune-up events over the next week before preparing for the Olympics. Mirza, 34, is confident that she will make a smooth transition to the new surface.

The bounce on hard courts is more consistent, and the ball can rise. Mirza said that it is easier to return from hard courts to grass than vice versa because on grass, the ball is low and skids through, while on hard courts, the bounce is uneven.
